Canadian Foundation for Climate and Atmospheric Sciences
Established in 2000 by the federal government, CFCAS awarded nearly $120-millon for university-led research to improve our understanding of how our climate and weather are changing and impacting our health, safety, economy and environment. CFCAS received $102-million in government funding for research grants and $8 million for administration, over 12 years. Through effective management of resources and low-cost administration, CFCAS delivered nearly 20 per cent more in research grants than it received from the government. The Foundation’s federal mandate and funding terminated in March 2012. Since then it has streamlined its operations, expanded its mandate and reorganized itself as the Canadian Climate Forum.
